May 19, 2013 - rain has washed out the Giants' chance at redemption today in Hutchinson as the Fun Valley Classic has been cancelled due to wet fields.  The Giants were scheduled to take on the Salina Orioles at 8:30am but will now turn their attention to the Wichita Grays this Wednesday night in league play at Westurban.

May 18, 2013 - A day that many thought would end in a 3-0 pool play record at the Fun Valley Classic in Hutchinson instead turned into an 0-3 day for the Giants as they lost to the Wichita Reds (A) 10-9, the Salina Orioles 11-9, and the McPherson Jr. Pups 8-7.  In the opener, Brayden Payne started on the mound and just couldn't find a rhythm in the strike zone as he walked the leadoff batter, but he fought back to strikeout a batter before a sacrifice bunt and another strikeout kept the Reds scoreless.  Things started off well offensively for the boys as Jarrett Bowman knocked a 1-out single to left before he was forced out at 2nd on a grounder.  With 2 outs, Weston Murrow reached on an error that brought Nolan Schoenhofer in for the game's first run.  Garrison Norris then roped one to left that plated Weston before Koy Willms hit a hard single and Brayden smacked a double to left to plate Garrison and Koy for a quick 4-0 lead.

May 16, 2013 - The Giants pitched just enough and hit just enough to pull out their first league win tonight in a 4-3 win over the Reds (W).  In the 1st, Kelton Simkins was greeted with a hard single to left to start the game and after a steal, a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch, the boys quickly trailed 1-0.  Kelton knuckled down and got a fly ball to Trey Smith in right and a lineout to Weston Murrow at 1st to finish off the inning.  The boys then hit the ball hard in the bottom half but a two lineouts and a strikeout left Weston stranded after his single up the middle to keep the score 1-0.

May 14, 2013 - The pool play schedule for the Giants in Hutchinson this weekend has been announced.  The team will take on the Wichita Reds (A) at 10:30am Saturday on diamond #4 at Fun Valley.  Then, they will get the Salina Orioles at 12:30pm on diamond #6 before finishing pool play that afternoon at 4:30pm against the McPherson Jr. Pups on diamond #6.  The tourney will have 11 teams in it and every team will advance to bracket play on Sunday.  For more details on the tourney you can check out the full tournament schedule by clicking on "Schedule" above then selecting "Tournament PDFs" and "2013 Fun Valley Classic PDF".
