July 11, 2012 - Needing one more win to clinch 1st in the league, the Giants had to work for it but got the job done by beating the Wichita Cubs 7-5 Wednesday night.  The Giants started things with Brayden Payne looping a 2-out single to right center and stealing a base before Weston Murrow drove him in with a line drive single to right for a quick 1-0 lead.  Garrison Norris reached on an error next, but Weston was picked off of 3rd to end the inning.  Kelton Simkins took the ball at that point and hit the first Cubs batter before getting a strikeout.  A stolen base and a wild pitch put the runner on 3rd and he scored on a groundout to Brayden to tie it up.  Another groundout to Brayden ended the inning tied.

The 29-team tournament will be played over three days from this Friday to Sunday at the Green Sports Complex in Pratt, Ks.  The tournament is a 3-game guarantee with 21 teams making the Championship bracket while the lowest 8 teams play in the Consolation bracket with the tournament finishing up around 7pm Sunday.  The Giants are the top seed in pool #6 and will take on the Salina Irish at 9pm on Friday before facing the Wichita Kings at 12:40pm Saturday.  Based on how they do in those games, they could either play again at 4:20pm or 9:50pm Saturday to make it to Sunday's quarterfinals.  Keep updated this weekend by using the live game updates section of our site or by joining us in Pratt!!!

July 8, 2012 - The Giants split a pair of bracket games today to finish 2nd at the Top Gun Championship in Manhattan by beating the Topeka Storm 15-4 before losing to the Wichita Grays 11-6.  In the opener against the Storm, Jarrett Bowman got the start and gave up two singles in the 1st along with two wild pitches that plated a run but a strikeout and a flyout ended the threat.  Koy Willms led off the bottom of the inning with an infield single before Brayden Payne hit a 1-out single to left.  After Brayden stole 2nd, Weston Murrow's groundout plated a run.  Then, Garrison Norris double to left center to give the boys the lead.  Unfortunately, after Jarrett singled to load 'em up, Garrison was picked off 3rd to end the inning.

July 7, 2012 - The Wichita Giants 12-year-olds came out and took care of business today by winning two games in pool play to be the #1 seed from the "B" pool for tomorrow's bracket play.  In the opener against the Wichita Bulldogs, the Giants handed them a 16-2 loss.  Jarrett Bowman got the ball and worked around a single in the 1st to get a popout, a lineout to himself, and a flyout to centerfield to hold them scoreless.  In the bottom of the inning Koy Willms started it off right by getting hit by a pitch.  After Colten Richardson and Brayden Payne both walked, Weston Murrow also walked to score Koy.  The Bulldogs changed pitchers and Garrison Norris greeted the new pitcher with a hard single to right to score Colten and Brayden.  Jarrett Bowman then stepped up and rapped one through the left side to plate two more.  After Kelton Simkins walked, the Bulldogs made another pitching change but an error allowed a runner to reach and Kelton to score.  Later with 2 outs in the inning, Koy singled to center to score Cole Caraway with the final run of the inning for a quick 8-0 lead.
